![]() 13 ( E)Neither can they prove to you what they now bring up against me. 11 You can verify that ( A)it is not more than twelve days since I ( B)went up ( C)to worship in Jerusalem, 12 and ( D)they did not find me disputing with anyone or stirring up a crowd, either in the temple or in the synagogues or in the city. “Knowing that for many years you have been a judge over this nation, I cheerfully make my defense. This is the way I write.ġ8 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.9 The Jews also joined in the charge, affirming that all these things were so.ġ0 And when the governor had nodded to him to speak, Paul replied: All my letters have this to show they are from me. The Lord be with all of you.ġ7 I, Paul, end this letter now in my own handwriting. Final Wordsġ6 Now may the Lord of peace give you peace at all times and in every way. Have nothing to do with them so they will feel ashamed. 13 But you, brothers and sisters, never become tired of doing good.ġ4 If some people do not obey what we tell you in this letter, then take note of them. 12 We command those people and beg them in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and earn their own food. They do nothing but busy themselves in other people’s lives. 10 When we were with you, we gave you this rule: “Anyone who refuses to work should not eat.”ġ1 We hear that some people in your group refuse to work. 9 We had the right to ask you to help us, but we worked to take care of ourselves so we would be an example for you to follow. We worked very hard night and day so we would not be an expense to any of you. 8 And when we ate another person’s food, we always paid for it. 7 You yourselves know that you should live as we live. The Duty to WorkĦ Brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ we command you to stay away from any believer who refuses to work and does not follow the teaching we gave you. 5 May the Lord lead your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s patience. 4 The Lord makes us feel sure that you are doing and will continue to do the things we told you. 2 And pray that we will be protected from stubborn and evil people, because not all people believe.ģ But the Lord is faithful and will give you strength and will protect you from the Evil One. I DO THIS IN ALL MY LETTERS TO PROVE THEY ARE FROM ME.ġ8 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.ģ And now, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the Lord’s teaching will continue to spread quickly and that people will give honor to that teaching, just as happened with you. Paul’s Final Greetingsġ6 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. 15 Don’t think of them as enemies, but warn them as you would a brother or sister. Stay away from them so they will be ashamed. 13 As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good.ġ4 Take note of those who refuse to obey what we say in this letter. 12 We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living. 10 Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.”ġ1 Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business. 9 We certainly had the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow. We worked hard day and night so we would not be a burden to any of you. 8 We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it. 7 For you know that you ought to imitate us. An Exhortation to Proper LivingĦ And now, dear brothers and sisters, we give you this command in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: Stay away from all believers who live idle lives and don’t follow the tradition they received from us. 5 May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ. 4 And we are confident in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we commanded you. 3 But the Lord is faithful he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. ![]() 2 Pray, too, that we will be rescued from wicked and evil people, for not everyone is a believer. Pray that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you. 3 Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us.
